What was your inspiration for writing your graphic novel?
I’ve always loved novels with deep world-building and magic systems, especially when things are not listed out but left up to the reader to piece together and think about. While I was still at my day job I would spend time after work creating new characters and worlds and Verse was one of these projects. Whenever I had the time I’d think about the characters and write little bits and pieces about them and their world. Eventually, when I left my job to do illustration full-time I had so much written and drawn that it felt natural to try and bring them together into a graphic novel.

Sam Beck is a writer and illustrator living in Toronto. She likes to explore themes of identity and relationships through the lens of fantasy. Sam has done work with Dark Horse, Vault Comics, and BOOM! Studios. When she's not drawing, find her admiring the forests of northern Ontario or playing the ocarina and guitar.
