"A powerful, raw and vulnerable read.”Olivia Munn, actress, The Newsroom

"Unflinchingly candid. Unspeakably sexy. And oh, so curiously entertaining."Steve Antin, Golden Globe winner, Burlesque

Imagine if Sex and the City's Samantha discovered she was an addict and her drug of choice was MEN. Go on a hilarious, inspiring, and at times, shocking journey as Roxanne conquers her fears, changes her ways, gets closer to healthy relationships and begins loving herself a little more each day.

After years of working as an image-obsessed actress in Hollywood, Roxanne finds herself at rock bottom from a disease that is anything but glamorous.

In her first year of recovery, Roxanne has to take accountability for her past. From tales of being mistaken for a prostitute at the Hotel Bel-Air to botching a threesome attempt with an A-list celebrity, she must face the truth about herself and stop playing the victim.

Roxanne's odyssey of using sex and love—as destructive and beguiling as an alcoholic reaching for a bottle—is a veritable rollercoaster of ups and downs, laughter and tears, and a true testament to facing your absolute truth and conquering your fears.

Secret Life of a Hollywood Sex & Love Addict has the vibrant, relatable vibe of chick lit, the soul-baring honesty of a memoir and the wisdom of a self-help book.

So take a front-row seat into this complex world and the 10 RULES Roxanne learns along the way.

“Actress Brianne Davis takes us behind the glitz and glamour for a brutally candid, no-holds-barred look at Tinseltown’s forever-favorite addiction: sex. You’ll cry... and laugh... as you join her harrowing and hilarious ride to sex-addiction sobriety.” —Spencer Beck, former editor-in-chief of LA Confidential, editor-in-chief Los Angeles and contributing editor at Vanity Fair

“Brianne tells the story of navigating a world where sex and beauty are commodities to be used and abused by those who have the power. Like Sex and the City, this is a tale of finding one’s self and reasserting a true feminist ideal: that your destiny is yours to create.” —Lucy Danziger, New York Times best-selling author of The Nine Rooms of Happiness and former editor-in-chief of SELF

“It takes a lot of courage to do what Brianne is doing in this book. To mirror her life into Roxanne is not only fearless, but wildly entertaining. It’s a world with so much darkness, yet Brianne has not only found the humor but the story to bring it to life because lets face it, we all want to know more.” —Jana Kramer, singer, actress on One Tree Hill, and New York Times best-selling author of The Good Fight

Music Playlist

I love music, especially as a sex and love addict. I would use music to float into a fantasy about my future or dive back into my past with longing. I wanted to incorporate songs into my storytelling for my roman à clef novel "Secret Life of a Hollywood Sex and Love Addict," which combines memoir, self-help, and chick lit. My anti-heroine Roxanne likes to live her favorite lyrics as well.

Here are 8 of the 16 songs I have linked to my novel that follows this C-list working Hollywood actress's life as she hits her bottom when her two out-of-town boyfriends confront her in her driveway.

Join her gnarly ride of withdrawal from her sex and love addiction as she lets go of her behaviors, makes amends with her past and turns to self-love in her future. Watch her deep dive into the pit of her soul to really examine the how, what, when, where and why of her becoming her own worst nightmare. Like any addict going through recovery, she finds out her 10 rules to live by to get on the other side of her darkness.

My Strange Addiction by Billie Eilish—Roxanne has the craziest addiction to people, which sets her on fire! She dances around her house to this song as she recalls all the fucked up things she’s done to self-medicate with another person. Roxanne really gets into it when Billie sings about one of them is going to lose. It’s never going to be Roxanne—she decided that when she was a young girl.

You’re the Inspiration by Chicago—Roxanne fell in love with this song at a young age and hears it every night she listens to Love Songs on the nightly radio. Jamming with the windows open and belting out the hook with as much vigor as a horrible singer can muster.

Sadness by Noah Cyrus—Roxanne realizes that she needs to yield to her sadness, fears and trauma. After the embarrassment and pain of “Vagina Gate,” she shares for the first time at a SLAA meeting. Letting go of her stubbornness and bad habits, Roxanne creates her bottom-lines with Alice, her new sponsor. Making friends with her sadness, she begins to work through her withdrawal alone!

Romeo and Juliet by John Zeffirelli—This song transports Roxanne back to her past when she and her father acted out Romeo and Juliet’s death scenes. Listening to this song brings up all kinds of unrealistic passions internally about what love is all about. DEATH and LOVE go hand in hand. Someone has to drink poison or stab themselves to be truly in love.

You Were Good to Me by Jeremy Zucker & Chelsea Cutler—Addict Roxanne is dying literally right before her eyes. She listens to this song when she wants to transport back to thanking her addiction and defects for getting her through the worst moment in her life. But she’s grown tired of her old ways. Even though she is scared of growing old, it’s time to Adult Up. We all like to glamorize our past. Roxanne bittersweetly apologizes to herself for doing what she did as she closes every door. She is sick of wanting more. She’s different now. She won’t hurt herself anymore.

In My Blood by Shawn Mendes—On her 274th day of brutal withdrawal, Roxanne lays on the bathroom floor now feeling everything when she used to feel nothing. She’s now crawling out of her own skin, wanting to shed her outer layer. Roxanne can’t do what she used to do. She has to try something new and ask for help from Alice, Dr. Kath, and her new program. She has to reach for help to find the inner child herself.

Ain’t No Man by The Avett Brothers—Roxanne realizes that she is all she has at her death. That no man is going to save her or fix her. None of her fear or pain is worth letting run her. She has to ultimately show up for herself. She’s her own savior and no one can change her soul. It’s only about her love for herself and others. Love is all we have!

Praying by Kesha—Just like Kesha let go of an abusive manager, Roxanne screamed, danced and celebrated when she let go of her abusive team members in her career. Roxanne prays that they get better and hopes their souls can change. Roxanne wishes peace and success for both people she’s fired. It’s her anthem to freedom—her best is yet to come! She is now a free butterfly
