ARC Review

The characters

Sia Holloway used to be a mean girl and when I say mean,I'm talking about embarrassing-humiliating-and-bullying-almost-everyone-at-her-school mean. Her father is a famous Hollywood movie producer and her mother worked as a model. She's filthy rich, spoiled and doesn't care about anyone else but herself. So when one day,she finds herself sitting on a park bench and not remembering how she got there, where she lives and
most importantly what's her name, even if she can't remember who she is,she knows one thing for certain:Her life will never be the same...

For an entire week she's homeless, lives on the streets and eats at the soup kitchen. She owes her life to Carol, a homeless woman who protected her the whole time.If it wasn't for her,Sia would be beaten, tortured or worse. She's getting used to living like this. However, when one day she goes to the soup kitchen to get something to eat,Kyle,a guy from her school, recognizes her and starts yelling at her that that's one more of her jokes.Sia has no idea what he's talking about but she gets scared, runs out of the kitchen and a car hits her. That's how the police and her parents find her.

Everyone at her school thinks that her life is perfect but when she returns home she discovers that her life is anything but that. Her mother has a drinking problem, they are on the verge of bankruptcy and she hasn't spoken to her parents or have treated them with respect for a very long time. But forgetting who you are and living on the streets is a life changing experience.

She realizes that her boyfriend is a jerk, her two best friends don't accept this new side of her and that she don't have to wear make up and fancy designer clothes so that she can be accepted into a group. Now that she has money, she helps homeless people, convinces her mother to stop drinking and ask for help, encourages her father about his work and tells him that she doesn't care if they don't have money,as long as they're a family. She also wants to know if Carol is alright and she wants to prove to Kyle that she's different and that people can really change.

Kyle and his friends are the school's freaks as Sia,her boyfriend and her "friends" used to call them. He's kind and sweet. When he finds out that Sia can't remember anything,he's very supportive of her. When an earthquake causes significant damage in San Francisco,he starts a campaign in order to save money for those in need.He never expected Sia to give him the opportunity to attend the Oscars and raise thousands of dollars. He also never expected to fall in love with her...

Verdict

A beautifully written story of redemption and rediscovering your self. From cruel and mean,Sia becomes a role model.

Rating: 4.5 stars!!
