Blog Tour:Smash Into You by Shelly Crane {Author Interview + Teaser + Giveaway}

Author: Shelly Crane
Title: Smash Into You
Publication Date: August 13th 2013

Synopsis

Jude has spent the whole twenty one years of his life running. From what, he wasn't quite sure. His mother tried to keep him safe; a low profile, a constant move on the horizon, a week's pay always stashed away. She tried to instill in him that he was special somehow, though would never elaborate. He never felt different. He was so completely normal and vanilla that he wondered if it had all been in her head. But then she was murdered and all he saw was a running silhouette of a man as his mother said three final words to him. Three words that changed his whole being.

Never stop running…

Now he's semi-settled into a big town. The college is huge and easy to blend into. It's been three months since he had to move because 'Biloxi', as he calls the man who killed his mother, found him once more.

Then Marley, an eighteen year old girl who is as infuriating as she is blissfully ignorant of her gorgeousness, smashes into his car with hers. Then smashes into his life as he realizes that whatever it is he has that Biloxi wants, she has it, too. And now, they're after them both.

Author Interview

Welcome to Living in a Bookworld and thank you so much for answering my questions Shelly!

From starting writing books to becoming a recognized author, it’s a long way. How was it when you first started?

I went from thinking a handful of people were going to read my books and only half of those people would even like it to being completely shocked, humbled, and…shocked! I was a stay at home mom who just decided to write a book one day and for it to be so well received was just awesome. I figured it would be posting a few things a day, but soon realized that to be successful you have to put in the work. It's a full-time job.  So it was nothing like I expected, but I have been surprised in the best way.

Your area of expertise is Young Adult books. Have you ever thought of writing an Adult book? And what genre would that be?

I have an adult series, Stealing Grace, under my pen name, Shelby Fallon. It's not a sex or erotica series, but it is full of romance. It's about a touchy subject and some people are leery to read it because of it. It's about a girl who's kidnapped and sold into human trafficking. A guy buys her and makes her his wife, but things aren't as they seem. It's not awfully graphic because I couldn't stomach reading a book that details rape and such let alone write one. If you read any of my books, you'll know that the love story is my focus. I am all about the lovey-dovey :)

What do you like most about writing for this age group?

Having to walk the line between adult situations and young love. I love pushing the envelope and seeing how far I can go without going too far. I focus lots of energy on the love story and young love, whether it be innocent or not so innocent, born of a bad situation or something completely normal, is so fun and amazing to make come to life. To write a love story and keep people interested in the romance without throwing in sex is actually harder to do, so I accept the challenge and really enjoy those aspects of the story.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?

That I enjoyed doing it! I'm a very quiet person. I wasn't a reader in school. I never even had thoughts of being an author before, so for this passion to come up so suddenly in my life was awesome. I'm usually very laid back, so for me to enjoy the work of writing and keeping up with all the social medias was surprising. I love to connect with my readers and other authors. For me to be so open to putting myself out there was amazing to me.

What is the hardest part of writing a book?

Just sitting down and doing a little bit every day, managing your time, is the hard part. I tend to get in the zone and literally could stay there for four days if I could. It's hard for me to shift gears, turn off the computer, and be normal without thinking about my characters. They tend to consume me when a book is in my mind.

Do you write more by logic or intuition, or some combination of the two?

Little of both, but more intuition. I write what my brain wants. I just write what feels right and don't worry about anything else.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?

Since SMASH INTO YOU is done, next is the Christmas Novella, Wide Spaces, for the Wide Awake series due November. It's Emma and Mason's first Christmas together and we'll get a glimpse of the sequel, Wide Open, coming December, which really digs into Mason's brother, Milo.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

I heart you so much. I just love you to pieces and appreciate you immensely. Without you, there would be no reason to write and the fact that you take the time to pick up my books still flabbergasts me to this day. Mwah, mwah, mwah!

Thank you,Shelly! :)
